The Kinzua region in north Pennsylvania is more than just a half a million acres of national
woods. We also have state parks and a multitude of private camping and rustic lodging
opportunities. Get a free visitor's guide.
Whether you are looking for total wilderness, the hike of a lifetime, or a great outdoor place for a
family vacation, or just a place to go fly fishing, the Allegheny High Plateau region has camping
opportunities for any adventure, sometimes at any time of the year. Many prefer winter for hiking,
but the fall colors (which start at the end of October) can be spectacular. Boaters and canoers
will find a wealth of services including two full-service marinas, canoe livery and rental services,
and plenty of launches. Hiking trails include the North Country Trail and many short paths for all
abilities.
Nearby Warren, Pennsylvania (pop. 10,000) features a shopping mall with movie theater, a
WalMart shopping center, and downtown amenities including a bookstore, coffee shop, a
nationally-recognized library, two first-rate motels (Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn), one of the
state's best YMCAs, a public pool, and lots of Victorian architecture and pre-Civil War homes.
Try to get a tour of the Struthers Theatre--it's one of the oldest Opera Houses in the country and
it is completely restored. It offers top drama, musicals, art films, and concerts year-round.
Anything you need is just 6 miles west of the Kinzua Dam in good ol' Warren, PA, the home of
the headquarters for the Allegheny National Forest. Bring your camera and share our good
nature with friends when you get home. We have life-long vacation memories money can't buy!
